Did anyone catch the second season premiere of NBC's ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST on Tuesday? I'm just catching up with it today. If anyone is unfamiliar, the premise of the show is that the lead character, tech exec Zoey, has developed the power to envision her friends, family, and colleagues bearing their hearts and souls through music. The songs embody the characters' true emotions, feelings, and thoughts that are usually hidden/unexpressed, and make the show's episodes function like mini-musicals.

Normally, the songs used are pop songs.

However, in Tuesday's episode, when Zoey returns to work after an extended leave following the death of her father, she is serenaded by her entire office with "Hello, Dolly!" This develops into a full blown song and dance number, much to Zoey's chagrin (she was hoping to ease back into work). The show also makes reference to the show itself, by having Zoey, at one point in the number, descend a staircase wearing a red sweater and jacket.

It was really hilarious. I couldn't find video of the whole number, but it's well worth tracking down.
