|Yes, Gray holds the record for the shortest-lived performance to win a Tony: ''Carnival in Flanders'' ran for only 6 performances.
It's a record that's unlikely to be broken since nowadays you can't be Tony-eligible unless you've had time to invite the Tony voters.
I loved her singing ''Thanks a Lot, But No Thanks'' in MGM's ''It's Always Fair Weather'' and ''I Say Hello'' from ''Destry Rides Again.''
Could anyone have seen Gray in an Off-Broadway 1990 flop called ''Money Talks''? Alas, she struggled with memorizing her lines.
Even the N.Y. Times review mentioned ''the dropped lines,'' sympathetically adding: ''After all, who would want to memorize this play?''
