"When the windows of the Darling nursery suddenly burst open and Mary Martin (as Peter Pan) soared in -- an incredibly magical moment (even on my family's tiny TV set). I instantly became a fan of musical theatre -- then, now, and forever."
Thanks, I should have named that same moment in the Sandy Duncan production. Of course, I had seen the Martin moment on TV several times as a child, and that was great, but there was NOTHING like seeing it live. Plus, as you may have read, Sandy's version was extra thrilling because she apparently got a running start backtage, so it seemed that she shot through the window as if out of a cannon.
