Although I loved Merle Louise's acting and singing in SWEENEY, I've always been disappointed by the fact that her cockney accent really isn't very good. Is that not an issue for you? As for Carlin Glynn, although I understand why this happens, it bothers me when someone who is clearly a leading actor is nominated in a featured or supporting category just because of billing or whatever. I would say that Miss Mona in WHOREHOUSE is definitely, unquestionably a leading role, whereas it could be argued that Ed Earl is indeed a supporting role, since he does only have one song, and that role is considerably smaller than Mona (and not as prominent as it is in the movie version). |
