There are two points and you are not engaging on my main one which is that Spacey is, for good reason, a pariah who will not be cast in anything. The question of whether Spacey would be well cast as the carrot head in chief is one that can be debated (I think Spacey reads as cerebral and no one would describe Trump that way) but that has nothing to do with whether I want to see Trump on Broadway. And what I want is irrelevant; Kushner has said he is bored by Trump and doesn't plan to write that character into his work, so the idea is academic. To me, Trump is a cartoon character, not someone with the heft of Cohn or Rosenberg et al. Will someone write a play about Trump? Of course, but it is more likely to play at one of those spaces around 8th Ave that is shared with porn theatres than on Broadway. |
