"You are confounding two things. Someone could have been a wonderful actor and still be a pariah with whom many/most will not work, making him unemployable. Would you extend the same generosity to Harvey Weinstein were he not rotting to death in jail? To Donald Trump? If some people want to cancel some people, so be it. If you don't want to, don't. Wanna produce a play with Spacey? Go for it. Don't spend your retirement on it though."
Or rather, conflating two things. One can feel it would be a terrible idea to bring Kevin Spacey back to Broadway in anything because of the multiple accusations against him and the the tremendous controversy that would presumably erupt, while ALSO acknowledging that he's a great actor (or, at least, has been in many roles). Those two things are NOT mutually exclusive, by any means. I'm continually amazed that so many people can't seem to grasp that most things in life are complicated and have lots of gray areas, rather than everything (or anything) being a "black or white" situation.
