At this point it seems silly to have winners announced when the nominees themselves are taken from a much smaller pool of eligible productions, given how many about-to-be-eligible productions were yet to open but would have before the cut-off if not for the pandemic.

I think for the relatively small number of plays and musicals that got nominations, that should be enough. Most of them won't even open again to use the potential box office bump of a win.

To crown winners under these circumstances seems deeply disingenuous and short-sighted.
