| I think the truth is that the circus concept worked perfectly for much of the show, but there were a few moments in the script and the songs where there was a disconnect -- for example, the lyrics of the opening number. "Magic" is often a part of circuses, especially the present-day cirque type of show, and maybe "parts to perform" is okay as well, because some of the performers in circuses do play characters, but the line "miracle plays to play" really doesn't have anything to do with a traditional or modern-style circus. |
