Fran Lebowitz did not have a... great time at The Phantom of the Opera's premiere

Fran Lebowitz and Martin Scorsese have a new Netflix series, Pretend It's a City. Nothing groundbreaking -- essentially an extended version of their prior talks and of some of the similar 'in conversation' TV specials they made for HBO in years past. But, of course, it's very entertaining. I won't spoil it, but in the first episode, Fran reminisces about being on the board of a charity that was involved in the opening night of Phantom. And, unlike everyone in the audience, including her mother, she hadn't read a thing about the show prior to opening night. Let's just say, it didn't end up being one of her favorite theatre-going experiences. In the same episode she shares her opinions on Evita and the advice she gave to Robert Stigwood about that show.
