From the review: "Florence Foster Jenkins (1868-1844), a wealthy New York socialite who concertized extensively although she was pretty much tone deaf, is the subject of Souvenir, a play Stephen Temperley that ran on Broadway in 2005 starring Judy Kaye and went on to be produced on film, with the lead role played by Meryl Streep."
To the best of my knowledge, Temperley's play (and for that mater "Glorious!" by Peter Quilter) has nothing to do with the Streep film, which is based on an entirely original screenplay by Nicholas Martin. |
