What Harris seems to be suggesting here, a new Federal Theatre Project, wouldn't really help at the moment, right? The issue today is that, due to the pandemic, it's not safe for people to gather in a theatre for a performance. Once theatres get the go-ahead to begin performances, people working in the industry will slowly get back to work as their shows prepare to reopen. A new FTP might be useful at that time to jumpstart productions reopening and help marginal theatre companies get back on their feet.
But that doesn't do a thing for theatre industry professionals who are struggling right now. |
