Yes, I agree: "eh" is a perfect word for it. Some lovely melodies (by ALW and others not credited)but, my God, I couldn't believe the endless talk, often by minor characters, especially in Act One. So boring it was one time only for me.
The Yeston/Kopit "Phantom," which has several good songs, is much more moving. Yes, I know it's not faithful to the original novel. Big deal. The characters, especially the Phantom, are much more interesting. |
