Well the REVIEW certainly contains mistakes, which I don't know if originate in the book itself.
One small example: the claim that Nichols "Broadway" "flops" include the 1988 WAITING FOR GODOT with Robin Williams and Steve Martin.
First, it was at the Newhouse, not the Beaumont, meaning it was NOT a Broadway production, but rather an Off-Broadway production.
Second, it didn't play to an empty seat, and people paid outrageous scalper prices to get in. Do you remember that the demand was so high that not even all Lincoln Center Theatre subscribers could get a ticket (i was in that camp, so I remember.)
Author Harris, and others, may not have liked the production, but it was not at all a "flop". In fact, it was the hottest ticket of that season! |
