| I, of course, wasn't present for any of this, but I believe someone recently posted somewhere that Mike Nichols himself denied during an interview that the role was offered to Doris Day. Who knows how her name ever even got mentioned in connection with that movie, but there's speculation that it probably never got further than some studio executive mentioning that he thought she might be good in the part. |
