Well... for the record we don't know if they were or weren't... all we know is they lead heterosexual lives in the public eye and that there were rumors and that they think squashing them would validate the idea that being rumored to be gay is a bad or embarrassing thing. I love the classy move, and I don't care whether they're straight or not really but in reality we do not actually know "they weren't", and I guess that's the point.
