"...it was an interesting piece."
Sometimes I think it was. For me, the standout moments were the first piece (beautifully rendered) and the "competition" sequence in the bar. But the 2nd piece and Mr. "Don't you fucking move" just turned me the hell off (even if the concept of the dancing in that scene, and the dancing itself, was well done), and I really never warmed to Boyd Gaines' character in the last piece. Also, while I really admire most of John Weidman's writing in general, his "book" for this show didn't seem very inspired. I feel it was a very uneven "first draft" of a show by a lot of talented folks.
And, something akin to a school "dance recital" except with a state-of-the-art sound system instead of a boombox. ;-) |
