But you can't then make an assessment of the musical if you only saw half of it. I *would have* walked out of Kinky Boots, but because I stayed for it all I am eligible to comment on it as a whole and assess it next to other entire musicals. You have no obligation to stay, but if you want to discuss it as a piece of writing... you have to.
Imagine leaving Grey Gardens at intermission and saying you get what it is and didn't care for it. Or Song & Dance. Or even Sunday (which I think is the great second act of a genius full musical, but some people even lovers of the show think the second act is weaker - bonkers but some think it! They only do because they saw the whole show) You never know what you'll find in act 2 and how it'll play into the impact or assessment of the entire musical. |
