Attenborough had odd ideas for the film.

Audrey Lander's casting was always so strange. She couldn't dance it. (it is fun to watch how when the dancing gets hard at certain points she just disappears from the line even for the final return to the standard poses at the end of Surprise, Surprise)

And to be crass she doesn't look like she had breast implants. It's always so odd when Connie and Sheila stare at her enviously. There's nothing bit there to look at. (plus she had kind of a cheap resume, shlocky stuff like Dallas and The Love Boat) so it cheapened the film. I will admit she did sing and act the number well so I guess that is why she got the role.

Casting a star as Zach and having Cassie separated from the others makes me feel like Cassie should have been a star too. Liza would have been great a few years before or a few years after. (1984 was The Rink year and she wasn't in shape mentally or physically.)

A year later and they could have cast Madonna. Not saying she'd have been great but she was famous and may have balanced the Zach Cassie dynamic.
