In the 1993 Fall issue of Show Music, Sylvia Stoddard wrote a story called ''A Journey Down $un$et Blvd.''

In it, she scrutinized his score, citing how he had recycled his own melodies and raided earlier shows.

Her conclusion: ''The truth is, he has composed virtually nothing new for 'Sunset Boulevard.' ''

Ironically, after the show arrived on Broadway, this Lloyd Webber work won the 1995 Tony for ''Best Original Score.''
