| I have to say that I've never bought Liza as an "underdog" in Cabaret. She's Liza. And she's fabulous in what she does - but she's not quite the "nothing" that Sally really should be. I really have to disagree that shoe would have bene a believable Cassie. Several years ago, a great colleague of mine who is a top actress in Boston played Sally Bowles in a really wonderful production, and she really disappeared into the part (IMO) so that I *could* believe her in the role - not an easy task as I've worked with her so many times as a true leading lady and know her very very well. So it can be done. But Liza didn't do that IMO. |
