I hear what you're saying, but I do like the score.
As I said, it is a guilty pleasure.
I think we all know this film will never be made. And you're right --we'll always have Gloria in the fascinating original.
I do have a desire to see Glenn Close in a theatrical movie musical. And this would seem to be her only shot.
She was great in the TV "South Pacific."
