| Really interested in your comments about ONE TOUCH OF VENUS. You and I have previously shared our love of Kurt Weill. When the full recording (Jay Records) came out, of course I bought it right away. I was really surprised that the score seems to be two different shows at once, the principal love story and pretty much all the rest. Its not that I had had no expose to those songs not on the Mary Martin OBC, I had heard most maybe all on Kurt Weill revisited Vol I and II, but hearing them in context I just can't see Dr. Crippen, let alone New Jersey in the same score as I'm a Stranger Here, Myself, That's Him and Speak Low. Maybe if I added the book into the experience, but right now I find it disjointed. |
