Recently, KING KONG, DR ZHIVAGO, and PIRATE QUEEN would have places of honor because of sheer scale, and perhaps hubris. Smaller scale, GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER is on my little list too.
My super star worst musical list would also include SHOGUN, A DOLLS LIFE, GRIND. Pre-Broadway? 1491 (Meredith Willson) and DUMAS AND SON (Wright and Forrest channel Saint Saens). There is worst and worst. Some musicals are so awful they're fun. DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES certainly fell in that category. Tene there's ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE, which played out as ESCAPE FROM MARGARITAVILLE - pretty intolerable. Or DR ZHIVAGO which was depressing on every level.
