| One thing with Kahn was apparently out of town she was encouraging Cy Coleman to make the role harder to sing, which apparently backfired on her. She had sung opera, but in opera, folks don't sing more than 2 or 3 shows a week. Kahn seemed like a nervous person in general who used that kind of energy to, most of the time, give brilliant performances. If she told Harold Prince she didn't think she could give that super performance consistently, she somehow told herself that was true. There's an axiom that says: if you tell yourself, you can do it -- you can; if you tell yourself you can't, you can't. |
