| I might also add, we should keep in mind that a title at the beginning of the film tells us that the action of CABARET takes place in 1931. Of course, this was at the height of the Great Depression in the U.S. and a bad economic time in Germany as well, so that's one more reason why Liza's Sally Bowles might not have become a big star in the movies or in a far more posh venue than the Kit Kat Klub. |
