Chenoweth did miss some performances. I remember posts here from people who saw her understudy, Mamie Parris. My memory is that Chenoweth missed at least three or four performances, maybe as many as 8-10.
Julia McKenzie played the role for five months in London in 1980. She was given more high notes to sing, and I've never heard that she was unable to do it eight times a week. I do remember, though, reading a quote from her that was something like, "It was tougher than doing La Traviata eight times a week would have been." |
