I saw the revival. The sets were kind of cheap which made me wish I could see what the original's still talked about sets were like. Chenowith was great. I saw the closing performance and it was something to watch her stand there stoic completely in character and wait for the long, huge entrance applause to die down.
Andy Karl was great and Peter Gallagher good. Mary Louise Wilson though was terrible. It baffles me how with so many older actresses to choose from they picked her.
It did seem like a very toned down version and not the grand production the original was said to be. |
