| Unfortunately, I missed "Grind", though the recording has some good numbers on it; the description of the show's book sounds like a fascinating mess. I did see "Roza" which had some great word of mouth from out of town tryouts, but in NY someone must have messed it up, as it was kind of boring. Georgia Brown was a fine performer playing a sympathetic character (really good in "Side by Side by Sondheim" with a great cast which also included Larry Kert, Nancy Dussault and Hermione Gingold), but the thing I remembered most of "Roza" was how great Bob Gunton looked in drag! He was very good, too. I noticed in comparison how his "Evita" co-star Mandy Patinkin did NOT look good in drag in "The Knife", but that show was terrible, and showed him off to bad advantage, while "Roza" was mainly disappointing and just kind of lay there. |
