| I believe it was "Why Do I Love You?" he gave to Stritch to sing to the baby. That song, and the other two by the romantic leads "You Are Love" and "Make Believe" are usually among the standard songs that up to that time, are never changed in a production of "Show Boat" and for good reason! There's plenty of other material, compiled by John McGlinn" of cut songs, alternative songs, etc that can be added or subtracted to a production of "Show Boat" but the 3 love duets by Magnolia and Ravenal are usually sung by them because "they work" if you have fine singers. |
