| I enjoyed the Prince "Show Boat" (with the possible exception of shoehorning the number for Stritch). But the show has constantly been revised and rewritten throughout its history. The creators themselves were involved in at least 2 revisions of the score. They were involved in the film versions and wrote songs for them. McGlinn did a great service to record ALL of the music but that version would be 4 hours long if played on stage. As for it not being grand enough-it filled that big barn of a theatre like nothing had since Sweeney Todd. The cast numbered about 70! All that Garth Drabinsky cash! |
