| Because you are left to *wonder* and examine why someone so talented is still languishing working part time in a seedy cabaret. I'm sure it was or could have been a reality, as another poster said, we all know truly talented people who never get their break -- either due to the timing and alchemy of their situation (the timing of them performing while someone looking to discover talent never aligned, or there were others doing similar things at the time who took up the space this unknown talent would, etc) or they just got in their own way, sabotaging themselves or comfortable in their rut and living in their "one day!" dream -- a stated goal or path but with no execution or proactivity toward it. This is true of SO many artists/performers. And makes a lot of sense for Sally. And I think it's just an interesting as Sally's story as is Prince's version that she is only a passable talent in reality. |
