As far as I know, Sills never performed in musical comedy and never had as demanding a schedule as Broadway. The acting/comedic demands of 20th Century are as great as the vocal ones. You want a young vibrant woman who is convincing as a movie star. Sills was 49 years old and had just retired from opera.
