Yes, but that sort of acting is very, very different from the kind of acting required for a Broadway role with lots of comic dialogue. Not to mention that some of Lily's music in OTTC needs to be belted in the alto register -- not a whole lot of it, but some of it -- and, as far as I know, Sills had never or almost never sung that way during her entire career. To me, the idea that she could have successfully played Lily, even if she had been considerably younger when OTTC came along, is quite bizarre to say the least. |
