| FOLLIES is a show about faded stars. The magic of the original production - hard to recreate - is that the cast included a lot of movie stars past their sell by date - Gene Kelly's brother Fred, former Ziegfeld girl Ethel Shutta. Just as Liza overpowered the film of CABARET (sorry - she did), so would Streisand overpower a film of FOLLIES - if such a thing ever happened. She is many great and wonderful things. But not this. |
