I think late September is the ideal time... before Halloween movie dominate the interest of teens, and when the teens are all constantly together in person and online and on social media, able to discuss and buzz about movies that appeal to them specifically.
And with Covid, whether they're in school physically or not, they will still be desperate to share a movie like this (potentially) and watch together virtually, or share it and pressure friends to see it so they can talk about post about it on their IG and Tik Tok etc.
Also, I'm sorry but no matter how good this movie *might* be, this is a Y.A. (young adult) musical... it will never be a contender for a Best Picture Oscar. Golden Globe, sure, in their ridiculously wrong-minded "Comedy or Musical) category... and acting, writing and song awards... but not Best Picture and very unlikely Best Adapted Screenplay or Director.
It's best chance of being a blockbuster is to appeal to and be timed well with teenager's lives. |
