Seyi Omooba was set to play Celie in ''The Color Purple'' in Leicester's Curve Theatre in 2019.

But she was dismissed after a fellow actor shared a screenshot of a Facebook post of hers from 2014. In it, Omooba said she didn't believe people could be ''born gay'' and that homosexuality is wrong. Now, Omooba, who is Christian, is suing the theater on the grounds of religious discrimination and breach of contract. Had she known the character of Celie was gay, Omooba said she would've turned down the role. Her representative also cites ''the best-known interpretation'' of Celie is in Steven Spielberg's 1985 Oscar-nominated movie, and claims ''the lesbian theme is not present at all.''
