| There is so much that I should respond to in this thread as I think I can clarify some things, but I don't know that I will. I do get frustrated sometimes because so much of what is being discussed in this thread has been discussed on this board a bunch of times in the past, and yet people who were involved in those discussions — several discussions — don't remember what was said in those discussions. Maybe I will manage to post a bit more to clarify some things. Anyway, but I do want to say — I have already said it elsewhere in this thread — that I saw both Kahn and Kaye, and I also find the idea that Judy Kaye couldn't act it to be ridiculous. I thought she was hands down better than Kahn. In fact, I think she gave one of the best musical-comedy performances I've ever seen from anyone. I thought she was funnier than Kahn, warmer and realer than Kahn, and sang it better. And they both were better than Chenoweth, who should have been terrific. For me, her performance was just not believable for one second. And even in broad farce, you want to see believable human beings. |
