The worst I'd say is that it was only *hinted* at, but the hint, if it is merely that, is definitely there. It isn't as obvious as I'd like, or as it deserves to be, but it's there. Perhaps a religious person with no exposure to homosexuality, and little exposure to nuanced film or literature would never pick up on it... but i think it's there.
Hell, as a kid (granted, a closeted kid), when I first saw the movie and had not read the book or known the story (and there was no musical version) I picked up on it.
And it's her fault for not reading the script or at least consulting someone who has.
I agree with the theater firing her, and I hope her case is thrown out. |
