I don't know if it works or not (lots of draconian measures would work, whether this one actually does or not, but that does not mean they can be justified) but we know that this chemical is not safe and we also know that its safety in general has been investigated, which is not what he is asking for. He is saying use it. Also re Sondheim, these are both old men who could lose enough of their rationality to propose something like this. (It does not appear that Sondheim has, but if he said this, that would be the presumption and we would still not abide the suggestion. The only difference between our reaction would be one of sorrow, because unlike ALW the proposal would not be consistent with a long history of immoral politics.) |
