I loved him in The Sound of Music, Beginners (for which he deservedly won an Oscar), and Barrymore. I wish I had seen him in Cyrano (flop though it was, his performance was said to be brilliant).
Crushed....crushed also that it had to be due to a fall, as he was such a vital man. Adored him from the age of 7 when I dragged every relative to repeated showings of a re-release of THE SOUND OF MUSIC, having fallen in love with him instantly. May he continue to shine always.
