| I enjoyed the production very much, but part of that may have been just getting to see a full production of Redhead mixed with the always magical experience of seeing a show at Goodspeed. While you could see why the show wasn't regularly produced, the Goodspeed seemed the best possible place to see it, it just felt at home in that old opera house. While I don't think anyone but Gwen could really play the role, as it seemed so tailored to her talents, Valarie Wright was very good in the title role with strong support from rest of the cast, especially the always wonderful Marilyn Cooper. Like everything at Goodspeed, the physical production, excellent orchestra, and live sound (no mics anywhere), fit this show and its period setting very well. Still so glad I made the 1,000 mile journey to see this one. |
