I hope Joe Allen’s reopens when this pandemic finally ends.

The restaurant is not called “Joe Allen’s.” It’s just “Joe Allen.”

Agree! I have many memories in my limited years of going to New York, including almost being knocked over by Alan Bates at Joe Allen and having dinner with (well, next to) Stephen Sondheim at Orso.

Many good drinks and dinners (and never an apostrophe s ať either place!)

Right, no need for apostrophes. Beauty in simplicity :-)

Nathan Lane, Chita Rivera, Kelli O'Hara, and others reminisce about Joe Allen in The Times.

And don't forget Orso's

He started it with his daughter.

Both restaurants (and the unsigned Bar Centrale upstairs) were always cheerful, welcoming places. Some of the front of house staff I'd seen there for over twenty years of Broadway trips. How did he do that? That's not easy.
