I'm really intrigued by this project, especially considering that SUGAR, while it has moments, is, on the whole, not very good and no one involved's best work.

I would loved to have seen a SOME LIKE IT HOT by Kander and Ebb. In many ways, the character of Sugar Kane is the opposite side of the Roxie Hart coin. Roxie will do absolutely anything to get into show business, while Sugar will do absolutely anything to get out of show business. And, I guess both Roxie and Sugar would be descendants of Sally Bowles too, three interesting 1920's characters with very different experiences with the showbiz. But it's still a story that could be filtered through the lens of showbiz razzmatazz, if that's the way they had wanted to go with it.

I bet Fosse would have had fun with it too. I wonder what kind of music and dance vocabulary these guys would have come up with for Sugar, a character who doesn't really want to sing or dance.

The idea to bring in Amber Ruffin to co-write the book is genius!! Really looking forward to this now.

She is very talented and funny.

I hope it's very different - I don't think men dressing in women's clothes to get out of trouble is the laff riot it once was.
