And the polka is basically the equivalent of one damn fine shag in 3/4 time.
4/4 time. A waltz is in 3, a polka is in 4. ("1 2 3 AND...") :-)
(Though musically, it's notated in 2/2, but it still can be felt in a long 4.)
That's one extra beat of shag per bar, lol. :-)
