| Aleck, I'm pretty sure that, of your list, the only movies filmed even partially in NYC were ON THE TOWN and HOW TO SUCCEED. | |

| IMDB reports that many of the scenes in Rent were filmed in NYC. If you have information that contradicts that claim, you should contact IMDB and set them straight. | |

| Sorry, I remember reading that most or all of RENT was going to be filmed in/on Treasure Island, off of San Francisco. (See article linked to below.) I do believe that most of it, or some of it, was filmed there, including the opening/title song sequence. But now that I think of it, and just going from memory, I think they must have wound up filming at least some of it in New York -- for example, there's a scene on the subway ("Santa Fe"), and then in "I'll Cover You" the characters seem to be singing while walking actual NYC streets. | |

| Gee, I kind of remember opening scenes, at least, of West Side Story of guys dancing in the streets. I thought that those scenes were shot in the empty streets where Lincoln Center is now. But it's been a long time since I saw that movie. I'll have to take another look. Sorry if I got fooled by a backlot set. | |

| Sorry, I didn't mean to include WEST SIDE STORY as part of the list. Yes, the entire prologue and most of the "Jet Song" were famously filmed in NYC. One location was on the west side in the area of what is now Lincoln Center, and the playground that featured prominently in the opening sequences was apparently located on the east side, I think between 109th and 100th streets. | |

| The prologue of WEST SIDE STORY was filmed in NYC, on W. 68th Street, on the streets that later made way for Lincoln Center and in a park on 110th Street (I believe East 110th Street). At one point The Jets turn a corner and end up in a Hollywood studio replica of an alley, where the solo first verse of The Jet Song is performed. I guess this was done to assure Russ Tamblyn's safety when he jumped up on the jungle gym. When Riff's solo section of the song is done and he departs, The Jets miraculously turn back onto the streets of NY and finish the song. The rest of the movie was shot in Hollywood, but most of its first 20 minutes are indeed shot in NYC. | |

| I've always heard that. But the north side of Juilliard is on 66th Street. What part of Lincoln Center is on 68th? | |

| None. Those were actually separate if close shooting locations. | |
