It happened to Michael Arden the year he got nominated for best director for the Once On This Island revival. When his name was called, they showed Christopher Fitzgerald instead. I remember Christopher looking mortified and clearly feeling bad for Michael. He shook his head and mouthed “No” (as in “You got the wrong guy”).
