..and she was an amazing Ruth in the Papp production of "The Pirates of Penzance" when it played in Central Park. Her body mic went out in the very first preview..and Rex Smith kept sharing his with her during their duet.
Sorry that she couldn't go on and do the Broadway run of the part. She was superb!!

Fabulous Ruth in "Pirates of Penzance"! She so had the style and the superb voice for it. I'm so happy to have seen her and that wonderful production and cast in Central Park. Even more happy to find out that the production had been filmed or videotaped and was able to borrow it from the NY Public Library system some years ago, so it might still be viewable.

Yes, fabulous Ruth. It was, of course, a starry night in Central Park but my friend and I agreed that the only principal we didn't know was the best--Patricia Routledge.
