| In the summer of 1978, I helped supervise the first full revival of LET 'EM EAT CAKE at the Berkshire Theatre Festival. Directed by artistic director Allan Albert, the cast included Tony Roberts, Arnold Stang, Spring Fairbank, Robert Nichols, Igors Gavon, Ronn Carroll, Mark Baker, Scott Robertson, and Daniel Robinson (later renamed Daniel Benzali, he originated Max opposite LuPone in SUNSET BOULEVARD). Kay Swift herself came up to supervise an interpolated song "First Lady and First Gent" (which was described as a reconstruction of a cut song, though Kay may have done a lot of the work). - Michael Colby |
