| Maybe you are being clever, which is a good thing, or maybe you are trying to segue into some taste-related thing, which is not. What Clurman was referring to was not lazy theatre but risk-free theatre. If we are not taking risks (and I would say a lot of what you likely categorize as "bad" is risk-free), then we cannot move the artform forward. |
