A few years ago, Jon Batiste was announced to be writing the score for a musical about Jean-Michel Basquiat, but I don't know if that's still in progress.
Regina Spektor worked with Tina Landau and Michael Korie on a musical version of Landau's play Beauty, but it fell apart. I think they got as far as a first act, maybe?
